Abietic acid attenuates LPS-induced acute lung injury by restoring Th17/Treg balance

Purpose: To investigate the mechanism of action and effects abietic acid (AA) in a mouse acute lung injury (ALI) model.
 Methods: A ALI model was established by lipopolysaccharide (LPS) induction. Lung tissues were examined for histological alterations scored based on degree injury. Myeloperoxidase (MPO), IL-6, IL-1β, TNF-α levels measured enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) while numbers Th17 Treg cells assessed immunofluorescence. Protein expression p-STAT3, p-STAT5, RORrt, FOXP3 analyzed immunoblot assay. Expression peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor γ (PPARγ) immunoblot.
 Results: AA ameliorated LPS-induced mice. Furthermore, pneumonia mice (p < 0.05) restored Th17/Treg balance transcription factor that altered LPS also activated PPARγ to restore 0.05).
 Conclusion: The results indicate attenuates restoring balance. Thus, is potential drug management ALI; however, must first be evaluated clinical studies.
